Two-hour sessions available by appointment. Book via the scheduling assistant below.

Are you an aspiring sewist who dreams of making their own garments? Do you want to learn how to alter or mend? Do you want to refine your tailoring skills or develop custom patterns?

We are pleased to offer private lessons in beginner, intermediate, and advanced fashion design and construction techniques for youth, adults, and fashion entrepreneurs of all skill levels. Build your mastery of womenswear and menswear garment construction, learn how to set in a sleeve or shirt collar, or simply pursue introductory sewing skills.

Two-hour sessions are available by appointment for one or two individuals. Book via the scheduling assistant below.

Private lessons are taught by qualified, confident professionals in our well-appointed, organized atelier. We ask you bring two to six recent sewing projects, if any, to your first lesson in order for the instructor to assess your sewing ability and together you can develop a relevant lesson plan to achieve your personal goals.

If you do not see a time and date that works for you, please reach out to our Academy Staff at programs@rightfullysewn.org or 816-491-8136 to schedule.

Beginner lessons may have up to two students in a session. You may bring your own machine from home if you would like to learn with it.

SCHEDULE YOUR LESSON IN THREE STEPS:

  1. Select your desired lesson.

  2. Select from available dates on the calendar that appears (you can select multiple, various dates with the “Add a Time” function or a recurring day and time with the “Recurring” function).

  3. Click “Continue” to move through the purchasing process.

You may book lessons no less than 48 hours in advance and up to 30 days out. We are happy to book these as in-person or virtual lessons. Just leave us a comment when you book.

PLEASE NOTE:

Due to limited availability refunds are not possible, but lessons may be rescheduled or else canceled in exchange for credit for a future lesson.

Masks are required for all in-person classes.

Sewing is a very hands-on activity and therefore keeping six feet of distance is not always possible. In addition to requiring the use of masks, Rightfully Sewn strongly encourages vaccinations to those who participate in our classes, not only for the health of our students and team members, but for the overall health of our community and to strive for the end of the pandemic.
